Mediterranean societies influenced the western world in many ways. The way that Greeks and the Romans ruled, religious beliefs, and the way they developed their societies trade, had similar quality as well as different characteristics. When the Greeks and the Romans went to war and conquered as well as failed they have some similarities and differences that influenced history.
The western world was changed by the Greeks and the Romans by the way that they governed and by the way that they developed their societies. Bentley, Ziegler, and Streets (2008) stated that the Greek society was developed in the Mediterranean basin and it was influence of Mesopotamians, Egyptians, and Phoenicians. During the seventh centuries B.C.E., the Greeks were able to venture throughout the Mediterranean basin and learn astronomy, science, mathematics, and medicine, to pass on to future generations to come. Roman society was developed and influenced the world by trade throughout the Mediterranean basin and developing good roads to travel on while doing so.
