After going through the syllabus, forums, readings, and essay topics I have found my three favorite readings as well as my three least favorite. One of my favorite readings was “The Passing of Grandison” because it was a story about humor, but also sincerity. The story was humorous because the Colonel’s son tried to win a girl’s heart by doing something kind by freeing Grandison by taking him to Canada. The son thought that all was well when he took Grandison to Canada, but his plan backfired when Grandison returns to the plantation saying that he was beaten and starved. The reason the story was sincere is because Grandison actually returned from Canada to back to the plantation to get his family. After the Colonel honored Grandison’s bravery
