Project management is a discipline of its own.  As a discipline, project management was developed from different fields of application including construction, engineering, and defense.  It has its own terminology, its own body of knowledge, its own set of skills and practices.  You do not need a degree in project management to practice the discipline, but you also cannot come up with these capabilities.  Project management is a mature area that has systemic problems similar to many found in manufacturing processes, and the theory of constraints works well when dealing with individual projects (Elton and Roe, March 1998).According to Leslie Allan, there are eight project management disciplines for project managers (Allan, 2003-2015):
