Race and Your Community
$ 15.00

I live near the border of New Mexico, Texas and Mexico in a small community called Mesquite. While this area is rich with agriculture it is fairly deprived of culture diversity. This does not mean that there is not a mixed culture in this area; it is just that most have lived here their entire lives and the Mexican heritage and culture is more present than others. The human interactions here have been racialized by just that, mostly Hispanics live here so the area is that of a Hispanic race. There are a few land owners that still live in this area that white, American Indian and a very few African Americans. However, since the areas are dominated by the Hispanic Americans most tend to follow their cultures. However there are quite a few American Indians located around this area and they seem too strict to their cultural heritage. Including building casinos, we currently have two local casinos and one is still under development to build just a mile from where I live.
