Week 2 - Discussion Question 2
Of the three early metaphysical ideas dualism, materialism, and idealism, I find the most logic in dualism. Dualism was basically invented by Plato and suggests that everything is either physical or mental and that many things, such as human beings, have both a physical and mental element (Moore & Bruder, 2008, p. 105). I find dualism to be the most logical because I have always had a strong feeling that all living things have both physical and mental (spiritual) attributes. I also believe that these physical and mental attributes usually work together. For example, I always think about a specific action before I physically carry it out. The thought may only last for a split second, but it is required to complete the action.
