Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) has been associated with depression and anxiety. So is the depression and anxiety linked to the use of steroids, or is it the repetitive exacerbations that cause these patients to be drawn to a state of depression? For the sake of this paper, I will review those factors that are associated with depression in patients with these chronic breathing conditions.
